Basically a Leica D-Lux 5 with a hand grip, and pretty much the best (large?) pocket point and shoot camera money can buy.

Good camera but I prefer the Canon S95. The S95 has comparable picture and video quality but with a smaller size which is probably why one would choose a camera such as this rather than a slr. I would like either one but out of my price range. Been waiting for the price to drop but if anything the price of the Canon S95 has gone up a little over the last year.

great camera! For Mac users, and if you shoot video clips a lot with this camera, be warned iPhoto doesn't support the camera's default video format.

I agree with most comments about the S95 but the LX5 definitely has a better lens. Sharper and more contrasty from edge to edge. I think the LX5 produces more SLR like images.

Also the LX5 have a hot shoe, which justified the bigger size. But I agree, the s95 is also great, but a lot less bulkier. Unfortunately prices on the s95 will probably stay up due to the Japan Tsunami.
