This is a cool camera! Hard to find one out there with 12x optical zoom and zoom capability in movie mode!
I've got one of these. Not only will it do HD recording, it has stereo microphones!
This is on my wish list. Current camera is getting flaky but my Christmas budget is gone. Bummer. I could drop my current one then I guess I wouldn't have a choice!
best deal i've seen so far
lumix is really awesome.
i love this camera.
i was in japan for 1 year working.
and lumix is by far the coolest thing i saw over there.
and the company is pretty good.
the camera have all the latest technology on it.
if you are looking for a camera to take pictures, this is the one to buy.
Hmmm, it has all the bells and whistles one could ask for, but how is the low light picture quality? Given the lens, I don't expect S90 quality, but how does it compare with Fuji F200EXR?
I have this camera- low light quality is on par or slightly better than other good quality compact camera's. While I love this camera I do find myself grabbing my SLR most of the time so I'm not stuck in a lighting condition where I just can't get a good picture without my SLR. This camera is very handy though, when an SLR just isn't an option due to the size. Good luck!
#2, the "stereo" microphones are only a half inch apart. That's not much separation.
#6, this is not the camera to buy if you plan to do a lot of low-light shooting. At ISO 80 -- which you're going to want to use most of the time -- the flash is good for about 5 feet. And the slowest shutter speed is 1 sec., so you're limited as far as time exposures.
On the plus side: 12x zoom, sharp Leica-designed lens, AVCHD video recording with zooming and autofocus.
I got one. It's a great camera if you can learn to live with its limitations.
Did they fix the focus hunting in video mode on these? I love everything about my TZ-5 except that when recording videos, the auto focus constantly "hunts" for the correct setting which leads to blurring to clear to blurring to clear...
#9 download the new 1.2 firmware..
