      Fair reviews from CC users. Some complaints about the software required to transfer video to the computer. The biggest thing (I think) is hidef camcorders are coming down in price and most who can afford a "good" standard def camcorder like this one are waiting it out. $500-650 for hidef vs $400-550 for standard def HD camcorders. Like me.

      I have the SDR-H18. This has a better zoom and a few other bells and whistles, but it's very similar. I love it. It's pretty bare bones, but it takes great video. It's very small and light which is a far cry from the old sony Digital 8 it replaced. The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of an optical view finder. I guess I'm old fashioned, but I prefer looking through an eye piece.
