I am not sure why this is such a good deal while the $810 Pana 50" P50S1 at Sears a couple of days ago is not as hot. This is only 16% larger in screen size while 48% more expensive. May be feature differences explain it.

This TV is a 1080P where as the sub $1000 TVs are generally 720p.

Panasonic makes the best plasmas. Plasma offers truer blacks over LCDs.
This is a good price, about $89 less than what it normally sells for. Saw it at Sam's Club for $1289 or something.
If you are in the market for one, now is as good of time as any Smile

#5, I wouldn't make such mistake. They are BOTH 1080p. The P50X1 is 720p, but the P50S1 is 1080p. Go check the whole thread at the other site.

For what it is, it's a great deal. If I had an extra $1,200 to blow on a TV, I'd be all over this (assuming I couldn't find a 50" Kuro for the same price - which I'm pretty sure is impossible.)
