This is the beginning of the end of 720P format. Remember the 420P SD TV a few years back? I couldn't find any of those anymore.

if you don't use blueray or plan to use blueray in the next year don't bother buying 1080P you won't notice a difference. Take the money you save and just buy a new generation TV in 2 years to take advantage of 1080P when it is more mainstream. They haven't even made plans to change broadcasting from 720 to 1080, odds are it won't occur anytime for at least 2 years. I have this TV and I have never had a problem with it and it looks fantastic.

yea, but you don't buy tv for just 2 yrs.. you buy it to last 10 yrs... so plan properly. buy the tv you want now, and less worry later..

This is a fantastic deal for this size TV.

Every 720p TV deal has someone jumping in about how 1080p is better, without mentioning the huge difference in price, usually followed by someone having to explain current broadcasted resolutions versus the extremely limited 1080p media.

For the same price as 1080, you can get a signficantly larger 720 set within the same technology (plasma, LCD, etc). At normal viewing distances, larger 720 is almost always a better viewing experience than smaller 1080.

My primary TV is huge and 1080, and had a big price tag to match ($5300). Sure, the show-off factor is large, as the picture looks great up close in super high definition, but 99% of what we actually watch is regular broadcasted TV and movies on DVD, from about 13 feet away.

When I recently went shopping for a flatscreen for my gym, which will also be used to watch broadcasted TV and DVDs (while on the treadmill or stationary bike from about 12' away), I went with a 720p 50" plasma, and it's perfect. Yes, I could have spent 70% more on another 1080 that I won't use, but that would have been a total waste of money, imo. Or for the same money I could have gone with a 40" 1080, but from 12' away, that's just too small.

Look around the net and it looks like it's been working off and on since yesterday. It worked when I tried it a few hours ago.
