Why bother posting a $1k item with a $50 coupon as a sale?
Pretty good deal on a great TV.
Because it's a great deal on a Great TV. Panny Plasma's are excellent.
Sears has it for $899 if you would rather pay tax and pick one up.
Agree that's a great deal even without the rebate.
have one and its baller
not bad at all ! im still holding out for a 50" 1080p one though
what is the depth of these panas compared to leds units?
can they be easily wall mounted flush?
My 50" from last year is about 3 1/2".
Great set..I <3 my last gen 50" panny plasma. Best TV I have every owned.
Researched these recently, G10 series is the latest and greatest. More coin but as good as you think this one is the G10 series is a vast improvement. Check em out in store it's night and day. That said I went LCD for a number of reasons. The low price of plasmas was very tempting but not enough for a win on my primary display.
Same boat as #6. Looking for a 50-55" plasma but I think the G10 at about 1500 might be a better choice. Great deal though on a 50" screen.
#10, why did you go with LCD? Is the picture quality better? Also, which LCD?
lcd images look to fake/cartoony to me
LCD, plasma, two very different TVs for different environments. If you watch in a light controlled environment plasma is far better than LCD. If you have a bright room and/or a large window opposite the TV that lets in a lot of light, and you watch TV during the day, LCD is probably the way to go.
i remember paying $3K for my first 50" 720p plasma back in the day. great to see prices like this for my next one.
True. Plasma is best in environments where you actually want to watch the display, and LCD is best for when you want to hang the thinnest tv possible on the wall but don't give two shits what the picture looks like.
"lcd images look to fake/cartoony to me"
You are either looking at really cheap LCD's or they are adjusted wrong. (or both)
#12 I went with the Sammy LN52B750. More expensive but Amazon has been having good coupon codes lately that put it under $2K shipped. #13 has a point some refer to it as the soap opera effect. I actually like this 3D effect with some programming. The plasmas are just flat in all respects in IMHO. The plasmas are loved by purists because the often can be more accurate on color reproduction, deeper black levels, no motion blur, and better viewing angles. Some LCD's have improved greatly in these areas. The Sammy I got has black levels close to a plasma and a brighter punchier picture if you want it. It also has extensive controls so you could dial it down to a plasma like picture. It even has controls for dejudder, 240hz, and others that create the soap opera effect so can vary it or turn if off if you wish. Uses very little power if you care about that. Also impressed with the DLNA that pulls photos, music, and video off my network. Many are liking this Sammy better than the LED back lit ones. I will be hooking a media pc to it and it is in a bright room so LCD made more sense for me. More than you want to know here :

#16 So will this Plasma work in a bright lit room? Tax kills it.
not the best for gaming, computer or blueray
