If I'm going to look at a 50" screen, it better be 1080... Unless you're going to be sitting in the house next door, the picture quality just won't be the same.
#18, thanks for the information.
The tech specs on this show that its resolution is really 1366 x 398. The 720P would look beter if they really used 720 pixels instead of 398...

With a bright room, you may have too much reflection from the environment. Of course the plasma will still work, but you won't get the same contrast you would with a darkened room. This effect is even greater when the screen is not a matte finish.
It's 1366 x 768, not 1366 x 398. That's the way plasmas are, the pixels are different than LCDs.
The 42" is nice too. I got it for $599 from Sears because I wanted something, yet I knew 1080p was better, but at the same time, nobody's broadcasting at 1080i, so why spend all that money now.
can't trust plasmas, if you want something to last go ahead and save up for an lcd
this was going for 700 a few months ago. great tv for the price.
big tv. but 720
#20 is retarded. These are fantastic for blu-ray.
Gaming and computer actually really isn't an issue either. I've had a 42" Panny in just that capacity for over 2 years now, no issues.
I trust my panny plasma a lot more than I do some noob that has no idea what he's talking about.
Amen to that. I've got 2 Panny plasmas, no problems.
Read in A/V forums, very few Panny plasma complaints.
#18 how is the viewing angle and motion blur on the Sammy? I was looking to get a Panasonic Plasma because I want it for gaming and at times will be looking at it from off to the side when others are also playing. I did see a Sammy LCD with the reflective glass and it looked great. I looked at it form the sides and the viewing angle was great too. Just don't know about motion blur.
i have this with a ps3 hooked up to it (via HDMI) and it looks great. no problems at all. tv reports that the signal is at 1080p.
Did Pioneer release details of their new plasma lineup at CES? I havent been able to find anything on any press event about new tvs. Also just wondering if these neo PDPs would be as good as the current 09 series of Pioneers in terms of contrast. It says 40,000:1 on the top models. Would anyone know how this might compare to the new Pios?
I wanna 54" G10 for around 1200 bones.
Can anyone recommend some decent quality speakers that will connect to this TV? Is any sub $100 external speaker(s) not worth using (e should I jsut stick to the internal speakers if I don't want to spend a lot of money?)
