It's never a good idea to purchase a television from an online store, but this is a nice set.
I'm very tempted for this TV, primarily for use in for gaming with the Xbox and Xbox 360. Any thoughts on if this vs and LCD is better or worse? The Plasmas are a bit cheaper, have better blacks, and they don't appear to have as much issues with the motion blur. Any opinions would be welcome! Thanks.
Plasma will give better contrast ratio between light and dark scenes, will be better in a very bright room or with glare from a window etc. LCD will require less electrical usage thus cheaper to operate and will not get as hot as a plasma. This is a great TV set. #1, I have purcahsed LCD TVs online several times without an issue other than missing hardware one time but that was Toshiba's fault and they mailed me the mounting hardware. Have purchased from 6ave and amazon without issues. Plus I save 8.25% tax by purchasing from out of state on-line companies.
In terms of power consumption on Plasmas, is it any more than a regular tube TV?
#3, you may not have had any problems with any of the lcd televisions you've purchased online, and that's great. However, the policy of almost all online retailers regarding television purchases are that they don't accept returns. So that means if you get a television that doesn't work properly, you can't return it back to Newegg, or whereever. You have to deal directly with the manufacture, which would be much more time consuming.

If you buy online at Costco, you can return the item for at least 90 days to any local Costco store.
#4, it's about the same as a tube TV, and it also runs about as warm. And there might be fans making noise, which may not be good for a bedroom setup.
Cool, thanks all for the advice.
I have purchased 3 tv's online. One got "lost" in the mail(stupid fedx). The other two I got quickly and in prefect condition. 2 of them where from 6th ave. You will save money on taxes plus most of the time it will be cheaper than the local store. For example, this tv at best buy will be 1700. If you are willing to pay "a little" extra plus tax then knock yourself out!
I wonder why plasmas can't do 120hz.
The obvious answer would be that they already "do" 480Hz.
My coworker has this same model, it looks far better than any LCD twice this price.
