584 Watts typical power usage. might as well just sign your paychecks over to the power company.

    Uhh, or not.

    584 Watts MAX power consumption.
On Mode Average Power Consumption: 269 W

In other words, practically identical to an LCD of this size, with the benefit of a superior picture.

At 269W average consumption, if you watched it for 8 hours a day, every day for a year, you'd pay about $120 for electricity. Ten bucks a month.

Good point #6. Lets all rush out and buy a plasma!! I mean it's got superior picture, cheaper price tag, same power consumption, comparing with a LCD.
Oh wait, why aren't people rushing out getting plasmas?! why is plasma continuously losing market share for the past 3 years? Why is plasma consists only 20% market share as of now?
Maybe because majority people are just dumb, we smart people will only buy plamas, and cheer for it, even when the days plasmas rest in peace!

I'm thinking about dropping the hammer on this one. I bought Sharp's Aquos 52" LCD and not happy with it at all. I was thinking about maybe one of the new Samsung LCD LED tv's instead. Anyone with any knowledge about those? Thanks.

BTW, plasma does put out a better pic. Don't know about the Samsung LCD's though.

Lots of reasons, but none of them have anything to do with image quality. Mostly because retailers make more money off LCD sales, consumers rely on hearsay and rumor when making purchase decisions, and most people think that brighter=better when comparing a wall of poorly-calibrated TVs in a torch-lit store.

I'm certainly not lacking any evidence supporting the theory that most people are stupid.

#7, either you're being serious or you seriously suck at sarcasm. Smile Either way, agree with #6 making a good point and that this is a great TV.

I'm late here, but try this website for help when it comes to comparing models and power consumption:
