I have the 46 inch 85U version of this TV. It has 30000:1 contrast ratio. It is a really nice TV. And yes, Panasonic is the best name in plasma.

cheaper (slightly) at Costco, better warranty. The latest issue of Consumer Reports still ranks Panny as best plasma in the 42" class. Samsung has overtaken them in larger sizes.

They left us high and dry when our barely 3 yr old LCDRP needed repairs that should have been recalled! burp wads!
go to amazon, this TV in 859.99 with free white glove shipping. I was going to get the 720p version, but for a mere $100 I might be convinced. Not that the 1080P does much for me, more that it is a better overall screen.
Pioneer Elite would be better than Panasonic. But people like m0f0, milf_hunter, and nuisance_sucks would never be able to afford Pioneer Elite plasma tv's because they would have to work 10 years at minimum wage to buy one. But they live in a garbage dump. It's possible they could find a plasma in a garbage dump when OLED reaches every American household.
