Is it true that the only difference between this and the PRO version is the software??
True. You can upgrade to the pro version software for $40 via the Pantone website. (total ripoff IMO...these "afterthought features" should be free)
If you know you need the pro version (dual monitor support, etc), it's best to buy the pro to start with instead of upgrading. Pro version = $74 at Amazon.
Could this work for a projector?

I have the Dewey version and love it!

I have this and for what it is, it's not bad. I agree the Pro features should just be part of it, but I only have one monitor on the system I use it on so it does the job.
The Auto-adjustment for room light is actually kind of cool.
