Yeah, most of the time you get a good one. A lot of people are happy with Philips refurbs. But sometimes they do ship defective one and that's when you have to waste a lot of time talking to customer service. But if you are persistent, you'll either get another one shipped to you free of charge or get a full refund with paid shipping.

They are very good, but you have to understand the minor risk.

I got one with tax for 855.51 on a previous deal there. (NJ) Works/worked great no issues whatsoever. One thing I like is the automatic resizing to fill the complete screen. I was paranoid about peole being crushed and widened, but this tv does a very nice job when set on automatic. Other plasmas I've seen you can rarely get a full screen picture. Only downside is burn in (all plasmas) Thumbs up on this deal.

My friend bought one when it was $800. The first TV had some kind of software problem. Philips tried to fix it with their local repair contractor. After a couple of failed trys, they replaced it for him, that's after about 1 month of waiting. Generally, the picture quality is VERY good, plus, for $700-800, you can't get a better TV than this one.

#5 I have one too and the setting can be configured. But yes, it's a very nice feature if you want it.

Burn-in is not much of the issue with these recent plasmas compared with the first generation plasmas.

Just in the interest of full disclosure, it is well-known that horndoggy1l (aka the fake horndoggy) is a shameless Philips refurb promoter. Has never seen a Philips refurb deal he didn't like. So take his input for what it's worth...

#8, I always think of his constant as the sunrise Phillips refurb promotion as fake horndoggy1!'s homage to horndoggy, which is either kinda funny or pretty burp sad, depending.

#8 and #10, please post something constructive like #5. I don't buy the "philips refurbs suck" theory. If you buy refurb, you're an rodeo cowboy if you get shocked getting something DOA. Just like gambling at casino, you have to be an rodeo cowboy if you're surprised at losing money. That's the risk you'll have to take. But the risk only involves hassle and phone calls. Unlike casino gambling, Philips ALWAYS give you money back (with paid return shipping) or replacement until you get the one you want to keep. There might be a few people who are lazy enough to call or do something when they get it DOA, but we can toss those cases out because they are who they are: lazy.

So sorry, hd1! About Phillips refurbs, one of Bens Bargains most reliable sources of humor, I have nothing of substance. Please forgive me for noting the similarity of your chosen name to that of the outrageous, Phillips refurb-flaming horndoggy, not to mention your promoting Phillips refurbs every time they're ever listed here, which is pretty much every day. I'm sure that Phillips refurbs are simply amazing...whatever.

horndoggy11 was beaten badly when he foolishly challenge someone to a fight. He was still recovering at a hospital the last time I've heard. He can't even come online to give his usual oink. I strongly condemn violence against juevenile regardless of how vulgar that person may be. With that said, bad mouth teenager who locks himself all day in grandma's basement in front of a computer is nothing to worship about. Ben will agree with me albeit the bias that he makes money off Philips refurb.
