DO NOT PURCHASE TVs from PHILIPS OUTLET.
Ben should not be recommending this source!!!
The TVs arrive broken and Philips is very difficult to deal with.
Over the past 5 years I have found many reputable vendors and scores of products using Bensbargains, but this was a horrible experience.
I purchased a 42" plasma from them and it arrived broken (no sound) Philips said not to send it back, but to call one of their authorized repair centers. I called and 3 local dealers said 1-3 weeks before they could schedule a repair! I called back Philips and they refused to do an exchange. I finally convinced them to pickup the TV and refund my credit card when they rcvd it. They convinced me to purchase a replacement - I did, and it arrived a week later (Yes, Philips refunded my credit card for the 1st TV.)
The second TV shut down every 20 mins after it warmed up. I called Philips and was told to call the local authorized repair center. I finally located a dealer who agreed to come look at the TV in 4 days. The repair guy examined the TV and said he could take it back to his shop, but it would be at least several weeks before he could repair it because he would need to wait for parts from Philips - he advised me to return the TV to Philips.
I called Philips and they said they could not accept the TV back, because since I had called for a repair, they would only agree to repair the set, but if I agreed to PAY out-of-pocket $60 for a second repair opinion then they might agree to accept the return. The second repair person came and agreed with the first and Philips agreed to pickup the TV. I am waiting for a refund.
Never buy a large screen refurbished Philips/Magnavox TV
#1: Could you nutshell that story for me? I don't want to bother reading the whole thing.
Thanks!
sincerely,
toddsucks
#2, in a nutshell #1 is a weak minded fool. *smirk*
Doesnt sound like that horrific of a story... if it was like
"ZipZoomFly sent me a 1GB Sporty Flashdrive and then someone raped and killed my mom" - I think I would be more inclined to not make this purchase.
F these Reverse-Fan-Boy lunatics, I own the same tv with ambilight, and have since 2004. It has survived 3 moves and no rape-deaths to date.
#3: Thank you.
sincerely,
toddsucks
I have no confidence in PHILIPS products.
Look folks...this is pretty easy...if it's a refurbed, that means they had a ton of them go bad and come back. Now they're trying to dump the bad ones as best they can.
NEVER BUY REFURBS! Especially expensive ones. It's one thing to take a chance on a $20 item, but a $700 TV...that's nuts.
They should dump this stuff on ebay.
I think Ben got the discount code wrong: KICKOFF-0807
It should be: RIPPOFF-0807
I purchased the 63" in Pixel Plus 3 HD Plasma Flat HDTV ... called tech support about the software problem and they sent me a usb drive wihtin 3 days to fixed the problem ... Had it for more than 2 weeks ... so far no problem ...
Philips TVs and their creators should spontaneously explode. Right now.
NEWSFLASH!!!!
Strange local explosions reported occuring spontainously throughout Holland.
2ND NEWSFLASH!!!
Dead people reported carrying Johnj189 of to the netherregions.
Boycott refurbs!
#6, I buy refurbs all the time and I save alot of money in the process. Most large companies like Philips have alot of refurbs because they sell a baconnaise load of electronics and as always a small percentage will go bad no matter who the manufacture is.
I bought a high end refurb HDTV from Philips - thru Ben's. From the get go it wasn't right. I tried cust no serve at Philips, never got anywhere. After a month I disputed the purchase with AMEX. AMEX tried to get Philip's side of the story and did not get a response.
Wound up getting the charges reversed and kept the TV. Spent $125 getting it fixed, so I guess I came out ahead on the deal. Bottom line is that I got lucky. If you buy from Philps, take my advise and use a good card. You will need it!
