Philips is junk. New stuff has problems so why in the world would you buy an $800 item from their refurbished outlet?

Refurbished = Someone wiped it off and put it in a new box or worse yet just put fresh tape on the old box...lmfao

always lurked. never posted until now to vent my fustration.
bought a refurbished lcd from Philips outlet. Item arrived but
IR remote doesn't work. Troubleshoot and found out remote actually works. It's the tv ir receiver that i supposed is bad.
No choice but called philips outlet...the begin of my nightmare.
After being tossed around phlips outlet and their serv center,
I have to send the tv bad (I pay shipping) and hope for the best.
My guess is the tv was not properly QAed before being sold again
and I'm to suffer for their incompetency.
And I'm the kind of guy that never pick up the phone to call cust serv or take the trouble to repack an item to send back. Just too much trouble.
Just my experience. I will never buy from them again. Just imo.

it really depends on your luck when it comes to phillips outlet. I got a 2.1 sound system from them a year ago and man, it was the worst packaging I have ever seen... you could just tell that the product was refurbished by looking at the box...lol, and that's saying something.

relax #2 glad your TVs are running but,

this is far too expensive for refurbished
      I want HALF off!
was it abused? was it run straight at high volume or on bad power for 2 years? no one knows!

and if I am going to pay $800 for electronics, I want it to come from a store where I can return it if has any problems and get at least a 2 year warranty.

You can always call customer service and have one exchanged until you get a working one. They pick up shipping cost so it won't cost you anything.

I have two of their 30" 540p (1080i/480p) refurbished CRTs with HDMI and dual component inputs. They have both worked without issues for a good two years now. Paid $400 for the first one, $300 for the second one. Remember, this is 2 years ago.

I contacted Phillips Customer Service asking about their policies. I received a one line email back from some random email address that said, "All our TV's come with a one year warranty." I decided not to buy from them. It's obvious that this company is about cutting corners and cost.

one year warranty is standard for a new TV but most referbs are 90 days.

      I also have a 720p LCD Projection.
I just bought the 540p/1080i TVs over 2 years ago, and have already given one away.
But they are the best looking for older 480i signals.

I bought this screen. DON'T chance it!!!
Their support sucks, and you cannot return defective refurbs!
So now I'm sitting on a refurb that worked for 8 hours and now fires off lots of red pixels. The $hit looks cartoonish. I have sent a email to my bank and plan to dispute the charge. Philips dosen't know how to refurb and check units it seems.

Also I went against my instinct, as the one person said above. If they have this many refurbs to sell that means the product sucks from the get go.

      Don't chance it IMO!
