      'Refurbished' = 'bend over'
      Don't go for refurbs, you never know how many hours they've been put to use. Tv's are one of the most abused gadgets in any household.
      When I see a refurb product on a 'deal' site, I expect the price to be tempting.. I've never seen one of those on BB.

      Refurb's already on this model? Hasn't been out that long.

      I've had pretty good luck in the past with Philips re-certified items. I have a 24" TV / DVD combo that is still strong after 4 years. Just lost the 42" Philips plasma as it burned up 3 circuit boards - but had an extended warranty that paid for a new 42" LCD 120hz replacement and even had the $$$ left over to get a 5 year extended warranty on it (6 years of coverage total).

      Not all refurb's are a problem just like not all rebates are either.

      #4, what's your thing with cheap re-certified Philips and expensive warranty? Paying a bit more for brand new name brand TV and you can pretty much skipped the whole warranty hassle.

      Off TV topic, but, including office electronics, I have bought 13 refurb. or "recertified" items so far and all have performed well. None appear to have been previously used.

      Refurbished items are tricky. You may get something someone had for a month or maybe something someone had for years. It's all about how the previous owner treated it and how the company fixed it up.
