big lots had these for $50 in their ad over a week ago. I wanted to go and buy about 4 of these to give out for Christmas gifts, but did not want to spend that much money.

I have the PET1001, which is their 10.2" DVD player that plays DivX, xvid, etc. It is good, but some of the new codecs used cause the picture to stutter. Older videos play perfectly, and the DVD functions are good too.

#4 I actually have the Phillips HTS3555 (it's their 5 speaker home theater system, with USB host and DiVX playback). I used to have the same lagged playback problem, but Phillips released a firmware update that actually fixed it for the most part.

Does anyone know if it doubles as a digital photo frame as well?

The 480x234 resolution is pretty lackluster, but it still seems like a decent deal for the price.
