Upconversion is barely, if at all, noticeable, but this is a nice player nonetheless. And it has the ever popular USB port in front to play avis or slideshows from a memory stick. Note tho that progressive playback is only avaiable from component outputs, so if your component inputs are already in use, as mine are, no progressive for you.

Got this same one for $60 a couple of days ago from amazon. Free shipping, no tax. I think it went up just afterwards but still is $65 with free shipping, no tax. Avoid Best Buy. They discriminate.

I'm gonna have to disagree #1. I don't know about this player specifically, but I can see a massive difference on my TV between the regular DVD player and the Blu-ray player's upconversion.

I think it matters on the TV though, I have a 42" 1080p plasma, smaller TVs probably it doesnt matter as much.

I would not buy from Best Buy. They don't want any body that searches for the best deal. The only thing they want is your hard earned money. Check around, you can do better. Do a google shop on whatever you are looking for for the best price. Don't be fooled by Best Buy. Not the Best Deal.

If a $68 dvd player has a better upscalar then your tv, then you must have bought a really crappy tv. TV manufacturers should put good upconverters in the tv, and market them on this, but for some reason, this hasn't happened. Instead they sell a $3000 tv with just a $2 upconverter, instead of spending $25 for a Faroudja.

To be honest, the problem is probably not with the tv's upconversion, it's most likely a problem with the deinterlacing.

I purchased this from BB for $50 in store. Hopefully this unit will drop for all of you... maybe the next holiday weekend? I'd say keep checking.

Do all Divx DVD players play Divx HD files? Or do you need a special player for that?
