what use exactly is upconversion if say, you have a 1080p 42" lcd and you're watching a standard dvd (720p) which is scaled to fit the screen? Since an interpolation of some kind must be performed to scale to the larger size, why would converting the source from 720p to 1080p be useful?
Do 42" lcd tvs normally refuse to scale on their own? Does the player upconversion look better than the tv scaling?
