Ben, you left out the best feature which is the usb port on the front for thumb drives. it also has a bizarre but great feature: put in an audio CD and rip MP3s directly to the thumb drive! you can pick bitrate(quality). this is a great dvd player for the money.
it is $50 at some US costco stores ($40 on sale)
and $50 canadian in bestbuy canada stores

It is a GREAT dvd player and worth much more than any of these prices IMO.

Although I think the operation is clunky on this thing the fact that it plays DIVX from a flash drive makes it the best DVD player I've ever had. I only wish it came in silver so it wasn't the black sheep among my silver components.

picked up the dvp5992 on sale at costco for $40 a couple weeks ago to replace a panny that crapped out. not sure about the player being loud but it sure has a great number of features that #1&2 stated, and for the price - can't be beat.

If it's USB 1.0 (which I suspect it is), the performance will be dismal on hi-res slide shows and video when accessed through it. I have a similar unit and it's a big problem with it.

#5, this thing rocks a USB 2.0 port. It is quite fast.

    No MKVs.

And if you buy from Walmart you are what's wrong with America.
