Amazon reviews say good for travel - ie: when sitting down but not for walking about with. But for the price seems a good product - not much of deal - almost the same price at amazon.

These are the first and only pair of noise canceling earphones that I have, so I don't really know what true quality noise cancelling is and I can't really compare with other products. But this is my limited experience.
I feel that there is a moderate hiss when you turn the noise cancelling on and the music gets louder. When I have the noise cancelling on without the music on, I'm not sure if I can tell if there is a difference between the ambient noise other than the hiss. With the music on, you can't hear the ambient noise as well, but it almost seems it's because the music gets louder.
The cord and switch are pretty cumbersome. Sometimes hard to wear and definitely not convenient to store.
Is this the same with other noise cancelling products?
This pretty much describes another cheap pair of NC phones I have. When I turn on NC with no music there is a hiss however I do notice on the commuter train that I can't hear the track noise as much when I turn it on. It seems that NC is good for canceling out those constant-droning-low-rumble type noises like heard on trains and planes.
ear buds kind of cancel noise anyway... i'd stay away... go for the sony
Like #2, the earphones are a bit cumbersome to carry around and store. The earbuds tend to pull off rather easily, and get lost.
Otherwise, for 15$ headphones, they have good accoustic response.
I'd also like to point out that the switch/battery pack is located at about the middle of cord, making it incredibly inconvenient to use them at any time other than sitting down...
