The last time I tried to use one of these devices I kep getting audio sync issues from not-so-clean analog sources. Myabe they have gotten better.

I finally went with a Panasonic DMR80 but it was expensive. Still a cheaper DVD recorder might cause less agaravation. Lots of companies sell buggy sw with their hw and never issue patches.
