Does anyone know if you can expand this unit to offer GPS? THis would be a great deal if you are allowed to do that.

I'm not sure if you can add GPS to this unit, but I have the Avic-D3 model with GPS and it has been working great. You might want to check with your local Audio/Stereo shops for price with install. If they install it, they will cover your warranty at the store, instead of having to mail it back to Pioneer. Enjoy!

How about skipping the DVD changer and sticking in a big hard drive and wireless. Pull in the garage and sync with your main library automatically. I know too much to ask. Build a car PC if you want that. Someday..

#3: there used to be a device that did exactly what you describe. Don't know if it's still selling tho.

Just buy a receiver with a usb drive. You could always install a PC in your center console or in the glove compartment I suppose ...or maybe even duct tape a lap top to your dashboard.

Omnifi DMP1 is what you want #3. Been using it for years now, got it in a woot-off. You can still find them on ebay in the 100-200$ range.[/url]

I also use an Omnifi... The thing is fantastic - make sure to flash it with Openfi (http://openfi.sourceforge.net/) and you're set. Also note, this thing has a feature (which I never use) that is an external wireless antenna that plugs into the unit. When you're close enough to your wireless network, the media server is supposed to push the mp3's to the unit in your car. This thing was way ahead of its time and unfortunately disappeared for the most part.
