On a more serious note though, is this a good player? I'm not looking for the most badass of badass players. My father retired recently and I was thinking of getting him a BDP for a gift. Is this player good enough for my folks (in their 60's) to sit around and watch rentals on?

I would look for wireless connection to watch NetFlix, etc. streamed over the internet. The wireless is very handy because most people don't have an ether connection in their living room. If you do, then you can just go with an ether port on the BDP.
