I bought a JVC CD receiver early this year with a front mounted USB port and I think that it is the best car stereo I have ever had. I have three 8 GB USB drives loaded with MP3's and I can drive for weeks and never hear the same song twice. You can make the player shuffle all the songs on the drive. The USB port also takes an iPod and then you can control it with the stereo's controls. It also has an auxiliary input for my Slacker radio or my Sansa. My recommendation, don't buy this unit, but get one that has a front mounted USB input.
Pioneer makes a version of this unit that has a front mount USB for about $125 at Amazon. It's a good unit, but the controls on the unit are one of the worst user interfaces I've ever had. I still need the manual to set an FM station.

KD-R600 It's great. I got it from Crutchfield. My car needed a kit and I bought the installation at a local vendor all from them. I probably paid too much money, but my days of installing car stereos are long gone. It was less than $200 installed.
