Today only. Discovery Store has Planet Earth: The Complete Series on Blu-ray (4 discs) and Life on Blu-ray (4 discs) on pre-order for $50 + $10 shipping = $60 shipped. One is narrated by Sigourney Weaver, and the other by Oprah, neither of whom are the British guy who's the brother of the Jurassic Park guy who looks like Colonel Sanders. Compare]

I don't know why but I'm a lot less impressed with "Life" than I was with Planet Earth. I own a Blu-Ray of the BBC version of PE so this is a no-go for me but I might buy a Blu-Ray of Life once the price drops to $25.

Got "Planet Earth" here for $25 yesterday. Woohoo!

Oprah's narration of "Life" kind of ruined it for me. Beautiful footage though.

Nah, Sigourney she ain't, but I think Oprah did a decent job. She completely donated her time, you know.

Life had too much filler... could have/should have been 6-8 episodes. Repeating footage was really frustrating.... my guess... they went over budget too fast and had to make up the time... Planet Earth was pretty BA compared to Life.

Amazon has the BBC (non-Sigourney Weaver, non-Oprah) version available for pre-order.

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't like Oprah's narration.

There is an option to choose the 7-14 days economy shipping for $4.

I found the following coupon code online, which knocks the price down $5: DCSEML

Final price was $49 for me.

Its ironic that a product whose underlying message is conservation ... could not find a way to package this as a single product with a choice of US or UK narration !

I realize the licensing issues etc. ... but they still should have worked up a way.

funny, I didn't watch it because of oprah. Now I can watch the bbc version and not have it tainted by oprah. =)

This whole debacle is caused by us using someone else's language.
We should have invented our own language, like ebonics, then no foreigner would sound better than us because they wouldn't know how to speak it properly.
    It's all about identity.
