Just a fantastic series. This is a good price for this as well.

A must have. Picture quality is outstanding in the blu-ray player/ps3. Walmart has the blu-ray format for $65(that's if you want it quickly without shipping charge).

HD-DVD is the only good format.
    Blu-ray advocates are doomed.

I thought this documentary would be pretty stupid... until I saw it. I was absolutely amazed. Great for kids and adults alike.

This narration is dumbed down for the American audience... If you listen to it side by side with the David Attenborough version, it's kind of insulting.

And if you already own the standard DVD version and can watch HD format, its worth checking out in 1080p.

I am thinking Sony Blu-Ray might win the war. Several studios this week went with Blu-Ray. The only studios that still support HD-DVD are Paramount and Universal Studios. The rest of the major players have decided to go with Blu-Ray.

#3 Physical media in its present form is doomed. Everything will either be streaming from the internet or downloaded from the internet to a media playing device. Case in point: the recording industry's plethora of announcements that they're on their way to rid of DRM and the continued decline of CD sales. Once people are effortlessly making copies of BluRay/HD-DVD discs as they are now with standard-def ones, they too will begin to fade out.

NOTE: CD sales dropped 4.9% in 2006, and 15% in 2007. DVD sales fell for the first time in 2007 at a rate of 4.4%.

I'm no fan of this trend of moving away from physical media as I like CD/SACD/DVD-Audio sound better than the compressed stuff. Same goes for high def programming, and I wish both BluRay and HD-DVD can co-exist with an affordable universal player.

Who won the DVD-R vs DVD+R war? You will see dual format player on the market by the end of March for less than $350 USD. LG has a player for $700 that will do it now. A desktop drive can do both now for less than $300 USD. There has been enough of both formats sold to support a dual format market and last time I checked, demand drove the market.

The Betamax will win the format war. The technology is better.

#8, streaming sounds great, but a significant portion of the US is not served by high-speed internet, and the residents won't splurge for satellite internet (which is super expensive, and due to lag can't be used for online gaming.)
