Even if you decide to get the HD-DVDs of this series, get the original BBC one. David Attenborough does a much better narration and the video quality is even better. Discovery only recorded in 1080i.

This deal is for whoever own a HD-DVD player like me right now Sad and not for those who need to buy a HD-DVD player in order to watch it . I just bought a HD player for XboX from Bestbuy 5 days before Toshiba gave up and god I already cut out the UPC code for mail in rebate stuff, how lucky me Sad . Anyway, I also purchased a 4 years extend warranty from Bestbuy for it, I wonder how they replace mine if it's broke ( and I will make sure it will break before its expire ha)

By the way, how come I see price for this set at of right now at $79.95 not $30?????

Edited: ok, see it at $30 now .... thx

Yes, the future is owning a license for content, so when you want to play it on something besides what they want you to play it on, they can sue you.

    bargainjp,
In your #14 post, you seem to suggest that HD-DVD players are not capable of playing DVDs.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, Toshiba's HD-A30 and A35 represent some of the best hardware for upconverting standard (480P) DVDs.

Actually #29...your inability to possess reading comprehension is rather astounding.

He indicated that HD-DVD will not be readable by anything in a few years, unlike all the other "winning" formats such as CD, DVD, and now Blu-ray. Future optical set ups (if they exist) will be backwards compatible. It's unlikely they'll be HD-DVD compatible.

And so you know, Blu-ray players upconvert just as well. Only difference is, I'll be able to buy even newer ones in the coming years.

#15, what does it mean to be an "extreme believer" in internet downloads? Have you seen proof that they exist?

    Optical media is so dead..
Greedy Japanese conglomerates will always push for some propriety optical media, even in the future probably, but I'm betting - or hoping - that the next generation after BR is streaming.

Does this series teach the tired old fabricated brainwashing nonsense called "evolution"?

It is very funny how brainwashed people are. The father of modern psychology said, "There is nothing so absurd, but that if repeated often enough, people will believe it."

Nothing demonstrates that better than evolution. People believe it even though there are dozens of simple to understand facts that demonstrate unequivocally that evolution is non-rational and a complete fantasy.

Those who support evolution do so on a religious basis (they want to believe anything that will discredit Christianity and this has been admitted by evolutionists), but not only do they hate Christianity, but their dedication to evolution is that of a religious bias. Facts mean nothing to them; they have the same dedication to their groundless theories that they accuse religious people of having. (It's funny, really.)

Since this isn't really the place to dialog, Google "fifty reasons why evolution" and the article that will probably come up first will show oh so clearly how irrational evolution is.

Please forgive me for attacking your god, oh ye faithful evolutionists! <g>

    evolution is murder! LOL!

lets face it christianity has been attacking science for 2 thousand years. Ask Copernicus. How dare he say the earth is not the center of the universe! But don't worry the corrupt, powerful church was able to threaten him and made him recant.

    Religion is poison.

#33, I'm waiting for a clear winner in the god versus David Attenborough war before I buy this. I don't want to buy this and then have it outdated by god or L. Ron Hubbard.

    #33 and #34,

Those Christians or Amish who oppose the theory of evolution are Fundamentalists, we don't need to care about them. If you don't know is who Francis Collins, he is the director of the Human Genom project and he is a Christian who believes evolution is part of the God's design and DNA is the language of God. He just gave a speech on Feb 5th , 2008 in stanfurd.

Anyway, #31, for those who have a clear vision in the future or just near future already know that download and streaming is the way to distribute digital media. Currently, Netflix, XBOX LIVE, Playstation Store, iTunes, Napster, eMusic, STEAM, Gamestop, abc.com, nbc.com are providing either streaming and/or downloadable games, music and movies. It's a trend that's already started.

Moreover, kids these days are already used to the habbit of downloading from the Net. Buying physical media on the other hand sounds unfamiliar and inconvenient to them eventually.

#29, upconverting a DVD is still a DVD lacking the detailness from an HD video. There is no way to compare them. Blu-Ray player can do the same thing and even better.

#37, you can try looking on ebay or craigslist and see. I bet u can only sell for $30 to $40, you better do it quick.
