IWBAFWOTTL, why are you discrediting science for having "so many" holes in it but you can follow christianity which also has "so many" holes in it. The whole point of science is to find new discoveries; that's why unproven ideas are called theories. You act as if the whole theory should be put to sleep just because of these holes.
And this god you talk about that has commanded me to do something; he has never presented himself to me and the few people that say they have “seen him†in this day and age usually are on the news looking like whack jobs. Those commands you listed are just morals. It's common sense to have some degree of morality and not kill or commit adultery.
You feel christianity is the true religion because you were brought up with a family that preached it. So because little ping in china grew up following another one, you'd still try and force your religious beliefs on to him? Get off your high horse.
#56, Every objective person would take *objective* scientific method over subjective belief. The problem is evolutiionists are anything but objective. The *main* motivation in evolutionary "study" is to justify the desire and hope to deny that the creator is real. There are evolutionists that honestly admit that. Most are willingly deceived because they want to be.
There's plenty of proof to back up that statement. Only the willingly ignorant stay ignorant.
#61, you're wrong, but that's not surprising. The holes? Tell me a few... or are you just blustering?
#61, The first wrong statement you made was that I discredit science. That's a lie. I did no such thing. I discredit the liars who postulate fantasies and claim them to be fact when they're ludicrous, a figment of a fanciful imagination and absolutely cannot be proven. That is not science.
Before you criticize, you might consider paying attention and getting your facts straight. I know that's extremely difficult for someone who's just blustering off the top of their head and don't really care about the issues about which they mouth off.
Recognize yourself?
Maybe I should have been more specific and said you discredit this particular theory. You went as far to even call it "ludicrous" just because you dont believe it is a possibility. How many times has this happened in history? Galileo was right even though when he first brought up his ideas of the sun being the center of our system it was hersey. When the world was thought to be flat, who was it that proved them wrong by NOT falling off the edge of the globe.
I don't claim to be an expert scholar of religion but seeing how science is everlearning and continues to prove new theories(not to say this one is proven), you seem to want to shut out the possibility. I openly embrace new findings. If you reject this theory, what is to say you wont do the same to the next theory your religion preaches erroneous. That seems like textbook ignorance to me.
And about my "blustering," go look up the old testament, it's full of contradictions page after page. People live for hundreds of years. And I'm sure you will say you follow the new testament but guess what the basis was for that read.
You lie. I don't discredit it or call it ludicrous because I don't believe it. I discredit it and call it ludicrous because it is. There is absolutely NO evidence to support it, period. It's a fancy. a fallacy, a lunacy, a joke and a canard, and YOU have NO evidence for it because THERE ISN'T ANY. It's support by liars and I SAY AGAIN, you have Internet and your ignorance is INEXCUSABLE.
You're not a scholar at all if you can't see through the silliness that is evolution.
Here's the basis for evolution, spoken by ONE honest evolutionist:
"There are only two possibilities as to how life arose; one is spontaneous generation arising to evolution, the other is a supernatural creative act of God, there is no third possibility. Spontaneous generation that life arose from non-living matter was scientifically disproved 120 years ago by Louis Pasteur and others. That leaves us with only one possible conclusion, that life arose as a creative act of God. I will not accept that philosophically because I do not want to believe in God, therefore I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution."
(Dr. George Wald, evolutionist, Professor Emeritus of Biology at the University at Harvard, Nobel Prize winner in Biology.)
Of course #66 ironically fails to acknowledge that there is not one single piece of evidence to prove the existence of God. NOT ONE! *smirk*
You just contradicted yourself with your first statement. If you discredit something because you feel it is ludicrous, then you don't believe it. If you believed in evolution, you wouldn't discredit it. You can't have one without the other, plain and simple. You seem very adamant on this being complete bull flop and everyone has their opinion but just because it's not proven now does not mean it can't be proven in the future.
Your attitude is saying give up trying to prove evolution because it's ludicrous. We would still be living in caves if we used that mentality with every theory or idea. Look at history and how ludicrous some ideas were that became proven. I named a couple and you made no effort to comment on them. Why, because they became true? If you lived half a millennium ago, you could say the same thing about the earth being the center of the universe but eventually proven wrong.
How about you prove your side of the arguement. You seem to think a god created people. How about you prove that people were created by god, or better yet, prove that there is a god. I claim to be agnostic because I feel there is a chance there is a higher being, but no scientific evidence has come about to prove it. When facts arise and prove it, I'll believe it. That is called being a realist.
Please do check it out. The quote is reliable.
Regarding the Old Testament, you're deep into areas where your ignorance has already shown and will repeatedly show and thoroughly.
Just how many web pages by God-haters (with no credibility) will you copy and paste from to try to make points about which you know nothing *and* care nothing because of your pride of wanting to prove a point and be right, not because you care about truth?
You're completely ignorant of the Old Testament just as you are of the New. How do I know this. Very simply. Anyone who denies the Scriptures is ignorant or a liar or both. The veracity of the Scriptures has been proven over and over and over and over. IF you don't know that, you're ignorant. Period.
What more needs to be said?
Should I try to demonstrate and prove the obvious to a fool who doesn't care and doesn't want to know? Why?
You have the Internet. You can do your own homework if you care. The fact that YOU DON'T CARE is evidenced by the stupidity you display by attacking God's Holy Word.
I've been a believer in God's Word for 35 years. Before that I was a scoffer and a mocker who loved to argue with Christians because they were completely incapable of answering objections and I thought, in my pride, that by making them look the fool, I was discrediting them. How stupid. We proclaim Jesus crucified, not ourselves. Finding 10,000 ignorant, foolish and unlearned Christians doesn't invalidate the claims of Jesus. YOU'LL answer to Jesus' Word, not the opinions or knowledge of any believer.
THE FIRST YEAR that I was a believer, God opened my eyes to that Holy Book and I so marveled at the wisdom and knowledge and answers and intricacies and details and confirmations and exactness of His Word that I was *many times over* convinced *far beyond* any shred of doubt that that Book was AUTHORED BY THE ALMIGHT CREATOR. I've never once doubted in in the 34 years since.
You don't believe BECAUSE YOU WANT TO SIN. Period. End of story.
Why argue with you? You don't care. You love sin and want to find a Christian that you can find fault with in your own mind so you can justify your own unbelief. HOW TRANSPARENT you are.
I again repeat for the brainwashed lemming religious nuts on this thread...
1. There is not one single piece of verifiable scientific proof that God exists, NOT ONE!
2. There is not one single page of the Bible that was written by God. NOT ONE!
It's a nice fairy tale, though.
I have better things to do with my time, but I'll tell you this. EVERY question and objection I had as a scoffer and mocker WAS answered by God's Word and far greater wisdom and understanding was given to me. Additionally, in the years since, I leared the difficult lesson that people like you are a waste of time. You're not honest and you don't care about the truth and you don't want to know it. Fine. Live in your self-deception and die and pay the consequences. You're a "Sanballat and Tobias."
Jesus said, "If any man is willing to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself." I testify that He is the Anointed One and He died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead for our justification and lives at the right hand of the throne of God. I've heard His voice more times than I can count; I've seen more physical visible miracles before my very eyes than is necessary to convince ANY HONEST skeptic, and I know He is truth and trustworthy.
There's far more abundant truth to verify the authority of the Word of God than anyone needs and you COULD find it IF YOU WANTED TO.
I don't want to play. <img src="http://bensbargains.net/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" border="0" />
If you CARE about evidence to confrim God's Word, look into "Bible Codes." These were discovered long ago by Jewish Rabbis and have been rediscovered in this century, and now that we have computers, it's amazing what they have found hidden in equidistant lettering sequence in the original text. What's even more marvelous is the correlation the hidden messages have with the surface text!
Do I think you care. Of course not. But just in case there might be the slightest bit of honor in you, that's a reasonable place to show the amazing ability of God to act in the intricacies that are also evidenced IN ALL OF NATURE!
Or... ... [Truncated]
i'm so glad i read this thread, thanks to all your posts, i'm saved!
Does God speak to you directly? Where have you read or heard one word that comes directly from him? I'm not interested in hearing about the 2nd and 3rd hand accounts of things that allegedly may have happened. Thanks in advance!
It's a shame you couldn't have lived close to 1000 years ago. You would have fit right in with the mass during the christian's crusades. There was something similar to that recently; it was called the Nazi Regime. You would have been a good candidate for them too had you been raised over there.
And what fate would say all the people who lived over 2000 years ago succumb to since they had no christian faith to support. Are they sinners because a man written book that claims to be words of a god was not published yet? Or would that fall under the post facto idea since you can't accuse someone of a crime, in this case a sin, for something that wasn't previously a crime, or sin.
What the burp are you talking about, #75? Your whole post is dumb.
Regarding your remarks under #68, I'll say this and then I'll go.
You kid yourself. If you really knew anything about these two subjects (and had an honest heart) you wouldn't be speaking from the pretense that I'm spouting an opinion based on preconceived notions. *IF God is true*, then the facts will verify that... and they DO. The information that you've seen and heard (the very limited, partial, misleading and so many times DISHONEST and deliberately falsified information) isn't sufficient for you to engage in a knowledgeable discussion and that's why you're staying on the fringes of "opinions and questions" because it's evident that you've done no serious research on either of these two topics.
I have, and I've been paying attention for decades, and I say evolution is ludcrous because all the evidence says so. This evidence YOU CAN FIND EASILY ENOUGH. I would show you IF I thought that you had *a shred* of honest interest.
I DON'T.
End of story.
Typical Christian coward, scurrying back under the rock he(?) crawled out from under. Yeah, become a Christian and mentally devolve. *smirk*
"My attempts to demonstrate evolution by an experiment carried on for more than 40 years have completely failed....bacon is not even possible to make a caricature of an evolution out of paleobiological facts...The idea of an evolution rests on pure belief."
(Dr. Nils Heribert-Nilsson, noted Swedish botanist and geneticist, of Lund University)
"Scientists who go about teaching that evolution is a fact of life are great con-men, and the story they are telling may be the greatest hoax ever! In explaining evolution we do not have one iota of fact."
(Dr. Newton Tahmisian, Atomic Energy Commission.) "Scientists who go about teaching that evolution is a fact of life are great con-men, and the story they are telling may be the greatest hoax ever. In explaining evolution we do not have one iota of fact." (Dr. N Tahmisian, Physiologist, Atomic Energy Commission. As quoted in: "Evolution and the Emperor's New Clothes, 3D Enterprises Limited, 1983, Title Page)
