      I have watched/listened to both versions. I wonder why they keep making more of the alien woman version? The english dude is a much better narrator. Perhaps if they had chosen Morgan Freeman, it would have been much better.

      I agree with #1. The non-attenborough versions always get bad reviews. Just stick with him BBC.

      It's a matter of personal preference...I like the version with Ms. Weaver better...Sir Attenborough is too whipsery for me...seems like he keeps needing to clear his throat...AHEM!...however, I really don't understand Oprah as the choice for the Discovery "Life" DVD...maybe she needed the money?

      Attenborough speaks with a passion as this is his subject and life interest. His dynamic narration adds to interest.

      Who wants to listen to someone reading a script? Weaver? Oprah?? why do they waste the money re-dubbing it?
