What's the difference between the US and UK versions besides the narrator? I vaguely remember some debate about on version being better than the other but I don't remember which and why.
It is an amazing deal. Still, I would rather have the BBC version (even at the $50 price at Amazon), for the narration. Weaver's voice bothers me.
Great series, worth the $30
i'm with #3 -- with weaver narrating, i keep expecting an alien to jump out of the screen at 1080p
the sequel is coming out soon too, though I'm not sure I'm interested in narration by Oprah...
Occasionally amazon.co.uk will sell the BBC version for ~$30 shipped after the currency conversion. It'll take a week or so for delivery but it's well worth it.
This is fantastic, loved these DVDs.
I think the BBC (UK) version includes the "making of" short for each episode, while the US version does not.

Amazing cinematography but Weaver comes off sounding clueless.
Keep in mind that this version is 720p/1080i. The BBC version is 1080p.
Although I would still highly recommend it. The narration is fantastic...I like it more than the BBC version with Atenborough.
The UK version features the Pantomime Horse!
