Is it better to get this instead of the slim?

Wasn't this thing $500 msrp just couple weeks ago?! Sony and Microsoft are really pushing hard to move their hardware. Wish they would push hard to move software too. $60 for a new release is just too much.

That's why they sell the consoles for the price they do. They know they will make up for it in games/movies.

I think they are trying to get out more systems because I had heard rumors that some of the gaming companies wanted to pull their titles off ps3's because their werent many units sold and they werent making much money

No one was going to stop developing for the PS3. It was a stupid side comment made by the head of Activision.

Here are some things to consider when buying this vs PS3 Slim. This unit has:
    Bigger hard drive
Comes w/ a game, and a good one at that
Has the ability to install Linux

    Things that the Slim has:
    Smaller size
    Less power consumption

Ask yourself if you think lower power consumption and smaller size is worth the price of a game and larger hard drive. BTW, that game currently retails for $30.

#5... unfounded rumors by bloggers. I think the rumors started after AV said they did not like the price point of the PS3 relative to the Wii/360.

The PS3 has been outselling the 360 world wide; however, its still behind by millions of units in the US and will likely not be able to catch up...

As for the game prices... new must have games I get from Sams or Costco for $54.

All other games I get used or wait 2 months and get them in the $30's

The power wattage is 280 vs 250... nothing to write home about.

This is no longer allowed to be shipped, and is available for in-store pickup only. I assume it's a misprint as I could not get the price to go below $399 even after almost finishing the sale.

Nice deal. If I didn't already own an xbox 360 I'd buy this.

#7 I normally order from Amazon.com because new releases or pre-orders are almost always cheaper than retail + no tax + free shipping over $25. Also they seem to have cool pre-order goodies now and then.

As #4 said you should be able to get 16% cashback through bing. MS paying you back for getting PS3? wow...go to bing.com , search for kenmore (it worked for me for something else) click on cashback link and then sign in with live account.

@ #9 "Nice deal. If I didn't already own an xbox 360 I'd buy this."

If you didn't own a 360, you probably wouldn't've had a house fire. And you would likely have much older friends than the 12yrs olds you play online with.
