i don't mind paying the extra money for xbox live. i only pay $30 a year, they go on sale for that price at least twice a year. it's not just the online gaming that you're paying for, you also pay for microsoft's truerank system, which is at least consistent across different games. i don't know if psn has a comparable system, but i'm sure it is hit or miss depending on the game. xbox live members also get netflix streaming as well. $30 a year to stream netflix to my console seems like a reasonable enough purchase.

Does the new slim support PS2 games? Can someone run down the differences between the PS3 models... I know the first gen played all the old games, then they started to limit that feature, but I haven't kept up on the ps3 scene.

Birthday is this weekend and I think I'm going to get a ps3...
