This deal has been on-going since the price drop and intro of the SLIM. Not a bad deal, but factor in the cost of upgrading the hard drive and you may want to spend the extra cash for the newer, better warranty PS3 Slim.

#1 Agreed. This deal makes less sense as time goes on. In particular, if it's not a 4-port unit with PS2 backwards compatibility (like the earlier 40GB), why bother?

Add tax to this also...What does it have a 90 day warranty? No thanks...Just buy a new slim or wait a month or so and the slim will have an even bigger hard drive.

    #4 - The 40 GB isn't BC.

#5 - The launch 20 60 had PS2 hardware, the 80 GB have software emulation.

Looking to purchase a game system for my son for Xmas. Would you suggest P3 or Xbox? Already has a Wii.

Considering most PS3 games are mandatory installs, and that this is a refurb...no thanks.

#8, please do not ask here, some people have very strong opinions. How about asking your son which one he likes!
consider the games and whether he would rather play netflix streamed movies or play blu-ray disk movies. both are now a reasonable price IMO.

I sold all my PS2 games (like $1,500 dollars worth) for only $100 to play-n-trade, and now I am kicking myself. The games would have been loads of fun for my younger kids. And, with the PS3 achieving a nice price point, I could have enjoyed the graphics of the newer titles and the play-again value of the PS2 titles. All I can say is, DOH! Smile

Per Dell - you shouldn't expect this purchase to arrive for at least 6 weeks. Lame
