Can someone enlighten me on what video formats the PS3 will play via streaming from a Vista PC?
I'm not sure which formats the PS3 will recognize from Vista through Media Player natively, but if you check out ps3mediaserver it actually does a really good job at transcoding most codecs. I don't think the PS3 can stream HD .mkv files but it will play back SD .mkv through ps3mediaserver.
I got this deal last time it was available. So far the Sony Card has only credited my account for $100, maybe I need to use it more.
Chase will raise your rates no matter how good your credit is. So, make sure you don't carry a balance.
Perhaps I'm misreading something but you get a $100 credit on your first purchase on the card (-100 off just by buying the PS3). THEN you get $200 more off if you spend $3,000 or more over the next 6 months?
So yeah, the playstation comes out to be 100 after all the credits but only 6 months later and after building up 3K worth of debt.
Doesn't sound worth it to me
If I didn't already have a PS3, I would go for this. If you use your credit card for everyday purchases instead of your debit card, you probably wouldn't have much trouble hitting this, but you would need to pay it off every month.
#5: Spending $3,000 over 6 months doesn't necessarily equate to "building up 3k worth of debt".
Some of us spend money using a credit card and then pay it off at the end of the month because we are living within our means.
It sounds like #5 acknowledges that he doesn't have the appropriate discipline to own a credit card and so this offer is not good for him. If he wants a PS3, he should ask his mommy (who he lives with) to buy it for him for his birthday.
I havnt really used my PS3 for gaming since kill zone 2 came out. Its been a great meadia player though. Pair it with tversity on another pc and you are good to go.
Guys, the input, jokes, and snipes are all helpful if not entertaining...but go look at the history on this deal and you'll see 50% of the comments involve interest rates and paying off credit card debt. Let's try to avoid the credit counseling discussion, and focus on the deal!
#5, don't worry.
If you're a kid, then let mom and pop worry about it for you. If you're an adult, then you might not need to have a PS3 but a date. Both way you don't have to worry.
This deal is not good for me because I already have a Chase card.
Good deal... I bought 160GB PS3...
Ok this does not make any sense if pl3 initial cost is $300 then you get -$100 with first purchase with new credit card if approved, this makes it $200 then if you spend $3000 on that new credit card during 6 month you get additional(or is that total $200 including the first $100 you already got) up to $200, this should make price of ps3 = 0 or am I missing something.
#12, yes, you're missing reading comprehension. Since when $399 = $300 ?
great deal if you don't already have a PS3 or a chase CC.
I don't supppose this is a 0% interest card. Does anyone know what the interest rate is? I have good credit (just under 800) so I'm assuming I would get the best rate they give, I just can't find what that rate might be.
This is a good deal, but due to Chase CC invovlement, I'm not so sure. I signed up for a similar deal previously and my APR was 10.99% back in April of 09. The deal was $200 credit w/o $3000 spending deal... which equals to $200 for ps3.
I continued to use Sony/Chase CC, but after paying in full every month, they closed my account for not having enough balance info on the credit card. I have built close to $80 worth of rewards, but since Chase closed my account, the rewards were gone. This closure also had some impact on my credit score...
Did this 2 months ago and got my $300 in credits quickly (used it on vacation in Seattle for Hotels, airfare and cars). Out of pocket for deal was $132 and I'd do it again and again if they let me and sell them on ebay for $300 minimum. Pay off the balance and there are NO worries with this deal.
I did this credit card deal a few months ago also and I got my $150 credit about 6 weeks later. I also bought the PS3 on sale from Dell, 20% off
does it include a controller?
This is a great deal and you don't even need to buy a PS3.
Here is what I did:
I got my first $100 statement credit as soon as I spent over $299 within the first 45 days. The expenses don't need to be in SonyStyle or PS3.
Then in the next 3 month I spent another $1500 on everyday purchase. Phone bill, home/auto insurance, gas, grocery .. I got the second $100 credit on my card.
Finally between month 4 to 6 spend another $1500 on any everyday purchases. Again pay all my bills and everyday purchases. I got another $100 credit on my Sony card.
Again, I did not buy the PS3 and I did not spend a dime in SonyStyle but I did get all $300 credit on my $3500 expense for the last 6 months. That is about 8% rebate - better than any other credit card's rebate program.
On the top I got 0% for 12 months. I can pay off the whole balance but I will hold until month 11, free interest why pay it now.
If you don't have big everyday expenses, this card is still good for the first $100 credit. Just make sure you spend at least $299 in the first 45 days.
If you have poor credit, don't know how to manage your money, still living with your parents or simply don't have money/job, then please don't ruin your finance more by applying the card.
