This deal requires Sony Playstation Visa Card signup, so read on if interested. Sony Style has the Playstation 3 console (80GB) for $250. They are offering a $50 statement credit with your first Sony Playstation Card purchase. Card issued through Chase Bank NA, with full Visa Platinum benefits and no annual fee.

So this $50 statement credit for a first purchase can be a purchase of anything (and not just anything from their website)?

Whoa, this is seriously messed up. They were offering $300 off of $400 just a few months ago: $100 on the initial purchase, and then $200 for spending another $3000 (on anything). Given the Slim has 40GB more, who in their right mind would do this to save another $35 (versus $285 for the Slim)?

#2 Looking at the fine print, I'd guess that the "first purchase" needs to be at SonyStore.

    #2, fine print says

    Quote:
You must purchase products or services equal to or greater than $249 within the first 45 days your account is open to qualify for a $50 credit card statement credit. Statement Credit will be posted to your PlayStation Card Statement within 8-12 weeks from Qualifying Purchase

but not in the fine print is
    Quote:
Get a PlayStation®3 for as low as $249.99. Apply now for the PlayStation Card, be instantly approved and for a limited time receive a $50 card credit when you purchase a PlayStation®3 system at SonyStyle.com or by calling 877-865-SONY (7669) with your new PlayStation Card.

leads me to believe that the fine print is just referring to the Playstation 3 that was purchased from sonystyle and that you can't get the $50 credit if you didn't pay full price for it.

Doesn't seem like much of a deal considering many cards offer more than $50 credit after your first $X dollars from any store, not just PS3 from sonystyle

apart from the donkey balls issue, this credit card used to have a much better offer, if you timed it right, you could have bought a slim for 300 and spent 3k on the card and gotten the ps3 for free. they must be thinking that everyone wants a slim not, a stupid idea, and they can reduce the bonus. i'd wait until they offer a decent deal.

#6 Not sure what you're referring to...last time the $300 deal was offered was in July, well before the Slim release. At the time, standard price on the 80GB was $400 (dropping it to $100 with the various credits) and the 160GB was $500. Now the 80GB is $300 (makes no sense to me--that's the same price as the Slim) and the 160GB is $400, but can be had for mid $300s. I'm sure we'll never see $300 off of the Slim.

This $50 deal is anything but. What I'd like to see is the 80GB drop to $150-$200 retail, and then to $100 either by sale, rebate, credit card payback, etc.
