I went through the whole process, and on one of the final checkout screens, where you would enter payment, is a small banner with the $150 credit info for applying and instantly being approved for the card. Almost did it as I don't have a BR player yet. BUT I REALLY don't need a PS3 lying around. I'd never get anything done. (Still thinking about it, though...)
The instant approval mechanism doesn't seem to be working.
Small print:
When you are approved for the Sony Card, you will receive your account and CVV2 number on-screen. Please make sure to make note of your account and CVV2 number as this information will not be available until you receive your card in the mail. If you are approved, you will be able to make a one-time purchase at SonyStyle.com only, with up to a maximum line of credit of $5,000. Additional purchases with this account cannot be made until your card is received in the mail.
I filled out the application and submitted. I was given a confirmation code, and it says that I will find out within 30 days if I qualified or not.
The small text says that I will have instant approval if I make a purchase today, yet I can't make a purchase without the CC#, and they aren't going to give it to me until after I'm approved!
Worked great for me.
I will sometimes take my card out of my camera to quickly share pics with folks via the TV... Pretty nice to have that handy for that use.
I'm sure they will continually run this promo. No reason not to wait till next month and get the 80gb drive for the same price.
#18 USB ports are used for playing videos/jpgs/mp3s off a thumb drive, moving save game data, charging ps3 controllers, attaching peripherals like instruments, eyetoy, and keyboard/mouse.
Wait until late fall when they will drop the price even more!
#18, you still get USB ports, just not as many as the more expensive model. Not a big deal to me since I know of the invention of the USB hub, but just saying...
Warning, there are 2 separate credit card promos on the check-out page.
One is for a Chase-issued card that will not work for a $150 rebate.
The other promo is a HSBC-issued card that DOES WORK.
If you get a CC# generated that starts with 2866, then you got the right one and can use it immediately.
If you got a CC# that starts with 44** then you're not going to be able to order off that page and you will go through hell speaking with a clueless Sony agent on the phone or chat.
Sony.com messed up by putting both CC promo's on the same page and hoping you click on the correct one. Now I've got one of each account.
can someone explain to me why signing up for the card is a bad thing and can u cancel it after u sign up for it?
Sorry for the noobie question...
Just got off the phone with a Sony Sales rep:
You apply for the card (Chase one) not the HSBC one as that is for 24 month no finance charge not $150. Once you get approved you use that to pay for your PS3 or anything from SS over $299. Your reciept & first statement will reflect $399. After 8-12 weeks you will see a $150 credit on your account. You get 12 month no interest on this card for your first purchase. So you could pay the min amount every month until the credit kicks in and have the credit apply towards the what ever is remaining for PS3. So this is not an instant $150 off.
#31,
So the Chase card can give you $150 credit and 12-m finance no interest?
yes 32
If you are worried about using your universal remote with the ps3, you should check out ir2bt.
Wow really nice deal. Signing up for the card may be a pain though.
#7 :
good point,haha
I just jumped on this myself and having also called Sony Sales directly, they told me the same thing #31 outlined.
ark -> Validated!
It's backordered at the moment, but I've waited this long. A few more weeks is nothing. In fact, since they don't charge until its shipped, I may get the refund at the same time!
mine has shipped
I did not get 150.00 credit like the Ad stated. You will get 100.00 credit for signup with Sony and 25.00 for your first purchase. 125.00 is not a bad discount however, I still feel I was mislead by Ben Bargain and Sony Style..When I purchased the PS3 on the phone with Sony sales agent she said I will get 150 back after I purchased.
So I called they explained, you will get 100.00 for signup and 25.00 for your first purchase.
Please feel free to give me feedback
I bought my ps3 with this deal about 2-3 wks ago and I got my $150 statement credit yesterday. It works.
