Newegg has the plustek OpticFilm 7200 A11BBM31A 48bit USB 2.0 Interface Film Scanner for $150 with free shipping. This device allows you to scan old slides and film negatives into your computer.

    People are still using film?

Good price for a film scanner, but if I were to buy one, I would want features like scratch removal. So, I'd skip this one for something much better and more expensive.

You could pair this with software that does the scratch removal.

I think with VueScan it would be a fairly powerful scanner if one is archiving old slides/negatives.

plustek makes a slightly more expensive model with IR for scratch and dust removal, and the software to do that.

Might not hurt to verify that any scanner considered works with generally available software, like SANE or VueScan. Otherwise, you could be required to spend more for software than the scanner is worth if you lose the software, or change OS. Been through this on a Umax film scanner.
