Wow, good replacement for onboard video.
So it's $21 for most, finally a decent price and rebate given it's place in the market. If I was buying a Mobo I get a ATI 780G or Nvidia 8100.
http://www3.pny.com/9500-GT-512MB-PCIe-P2680C331.aspx
Search P/N - VCG95512 G-X-P-B to find pic's of the fan-cooler
I spread out those letters as Ben's filter bacon'd them, of all the crap to call bacon!
"Sorry, this product is not available for online purchase."
I suppose that we are to drive to the store, no matter how far away that might be, and hope they actually have one in stock. Thanks MicroCenter!
Sorry, this product is more like downgrade, unless you have one those build-in video chip with mobo.
Well, it's a good deal at $16, although I'm not sure what exactly you'd use it for.
It supports full HD video acceleration, but it doesn't have a HDMI output. Also, it isn't half height, and does not use passive cooling.
So, I guess if you live near a Microcenter, don't need to output with HDMI, and don't mind if the cooler is a bit noisy, then it's a good deal.
Of course, don't expect to be doing much gaming with this low-end card.
You'll need to ante up at least $40 to start getting into gaming card territory(Radeon 3850).
If you do need a card with HDMI output, a half height bracket, full HD video acceleration, onboard HD surround sound, and a passive cooler, take a look at the Radeon 3450 on sale for $20 right now on newegg.
is it faster than 8500 GT?
#6: yes. It's a bit faster than the 8600GT.
so just for the sake of clarification, this thing should be able to handle h.264 @ 1080p right?
It's perfect price for office system..
is it faster than 7600GT ?
and do i need a good psu to run this card ?
i have this PSU right now.

copy and paste the link
comp wizzz need advise and tell me if any better card can run on this PSU. i bought it a year ago but never used it and its still packed. currantly my computer is running on 250 or 300 watt PSU which came with my HP.
Great card to have around just in case you have a video card emergency.
Also a good upgrade to onboard graphics like #1 said.
#5 had nothing new to add *as usual*.
#5 at present I'm using 2 Geforce 8800 GT's in sli.
What would be the best next step up? I was thinking of 2 260's (sli) or the ATI 4850 x2. My budget is around $300 and my psu is OK with either as is my nVidia 750i motherboard. Thanks for any advice.
This GeForce 9500 is better than the Radeon 9500.
Crack my ass up.
Someone who is currently running two 8800 GT's in SLI needs help to decide their next setup????
How the did you get yourself into this situation to start with??
Perhaps you need to stick with non-technical problem solving skills of asking "would you like fries with that?" instead of asking what your upgrade path would be.
Sold Out.. Good price after rebates, I have recive all PYN rebates..
yes this will do 1080p no prob, VDPAU is supported in the latest xbmc builds with the newest nvidia drive on ubuntu.
Not "Sold out" #15. The deal was never there to begin with.
In store sale only.
#10, yes it's faster but not fast enough for modern games so what is your goal?
The linked PSU is enough, these are not particularly power hungry cards.
I'd say this is a waste of money to upgrade over integrated video, since it is not fast enough for modern games, since integrated video is plenty fast enough for anything 2D (assuming at least DX9 support if you run Vista Aero interface), and since HD video acceleration requires supportive software players which most people don't use.
On the other hand if your onboard video has no DVI output or only one DVI and you need two or an S-Video out, these would be the best reasons to upgrade.
One other fair use would be if you want to upgrade your mobo and CPU but keep using same video card (one faster than this is) and you just need a cheap video card for your old mobo to reuse it for a non-gaming purpose.
Can 2 of these cards be used in a cheap SLI configuration?
