An OK speaker but the price is great.
Is this the same speaker?
http://shop4.frys.com/product/3679035
Not the same by looking at pitures.. and those at frys are sold out btw .. ahem
Good speaker, good price
I got a pair of these last year at Fry's on blowout. I found they ate alot of power and did no sound all that well...but then again it's one of those personal preference things. I returned them after trying to give them a chance to warm up to my ears and break in a bit...but no go. Also, they are pretty big so you will need some room to place these as they have deep cabinets.
#2, these are better than the R50's but still not as good as the RTi or LSi line from Polk.
These were made obsolete because the TSi series replaced them. The TSi are considerably better though, not just an upgrade. The TSi's are also not as good as the other two that #6 listed.
would polk mix well in an other wise B&W setup? as far as sound type warm/sharp etc..
For the front and center speaker you want to stay within the same series of speakers. So even switching series but keeping the same manufacturer will result in voice mis-match. For example, you would not want to mix these with Polk's RTi or LSi line, but the TSi may work.
You may get away with mixing rear surround speaker since not a whole lot of information comes out of those speakers. However, you really should stick with B&W speakers. If you have bought some nice B&W speakers and don't want to dish out then at least buy older/used B&W speakers off of Ebay. You should not compromise for the front/center speakers though. Realize in a HT setup the center is the most important speaker, so don't compromise.
Subwoofers are a different story. You can get any great sounding sub and it will "blend" well.
Thought that large towers speakers been out for awhile. They take up too much space if you live in a small place. Although polk is a good brand.
Yeah towers take up a lot of space, but they have a presence in the room that generally can't be matched by bookshelf speakers. They also will typically go deeper in Bass than bookshelf speakers, but that may be a non-issue if you have a sub.
get me some PSB imagine T at this price please
Quick Speaker Test:
Knock on the speaker case... if its sound solid the speaker is less likely to cause structural-based distortion.
Kenwoods are the worst
Can I buy only one? Stereo is so 80s.
#14 Yes you can...and it sounds great with your old AM radio.
#8 you really should upgrade to color. B&W is so 50's
I had these but complained all the way to Polk because they were constantly picking up satellite beam interference and did not have the large bass booming feature speaker that produces the kind of sound you hear during Transformers and other movies with bass sounds. Also, their corporate headquarters did not tell me that the can't be fit into the back of a VW Fox so I can't move them to my other small but important apartment in New York City where I can buy head cheese at the favorite deli. The finish is cherry but I would also prefer to have one black speaker to complement each other for frontal sound field effect. But they are still ok for only $99.
these are good speakers for the money, you get what u pay for.
I luvs me some newegg.
