is polk audio better than Bose?
I think is better in the upper range, ie more crisp. I think bose is known for better mid-range and low. Not that either are bad for what the other is superior in. So, basically unless you're a real audiophile, you won't be able to tell difference.
90% of what Bose sells is overpriced junk. And I'm not an audiophile - there's definitely a noticeable difference.
These are excellent speakers.
Bose is known for their mid and low range???? Yah, ok so the 4" woofers on their satellites hit 22 Hz right? Seriously though, Bose are overpriced and well advertised. They are not known for their bass, even their upper level subs are midgrade quality. They do sound good but so do a lot of other speakers that cost less. Also it will also depend on which Bose/Polk speaker you want to compare. Both companies have different levels of speakers (high end, budget)
entry level floor standers here, don't expect anything spectacular.
These are very good for the price. Funny how I linked them in a few places last night and then they showed up here this morning.
Did he copy my Denon AVR-988 deal at Amazon, too?
They may not be nothing spectacular but they seem ok for the price

First my disclaimer... I am a Polk whore. It started with the R50's I bought back in January and now have upgraded well beyond them. I hear nothing but bad things about Bose. They were once a good company but now their marketing department runs them. Bose is the last company to buy speakers from.
The general pecking order for Polk speakers is: R < M < Tsi < RTi < RtiA < LSi. Not there is only a slight improvement between the RTi and RTiA series speakers. These are the monitor ("M") series speakers. For hometheater, you really want to try to get to the RTi/RTiA speakers due to their ability to produce detailed sound. You will notice a difference between these and the RTi8's that were advertised here a little while ago, and think that the RTi8's are better. The TSi speakers are a replacement to the M series but there is a much bigger difference in sound quality so they fall somewhere in between the M and RTi series speakers.
This price is only OK. The RTi8's at $150 were a better deal. Of course you could also look into the used market which could save you a bundle. Polk sells refurbed speakers on Ebay under the user Polkdirect. They are very good quality and come with a warranty.
BTW, since I slammed Bose I should mention that some people consider Polk to also be a has-been company. They believe that Polk's move to sell mainstream speakers has somehow cheapened them, and also a lot of their key people went to Definitive Tech. I think their RTi's and LSi speakers sound great for their price. Of course their is always better and more expensive speakers. There are also speakers in the same price range that others would prefer. There is a recent discussion comparing Totem Rainmakers to LSi9's where the reviewer preferred the Totems. The audio world is quite subjective and expensive so do your research.
I have both Bose and Polk Audio speakers at home, and the Polk Audio definitely sounds better. It has a warmer feel and crispier sound. The Bose can be produce quality sound from the small cubes, but, in my opinion, just sounds a little weaker.
good deal, better than bose
