Why bother to waste money on this. A sub is the heart of any H/T system, so why would anybody think that a 50w sub with a 10" speaker is what they need? Pass on this folks. Ben: How is this a deal? Same price forever.
Ya know #6, if you knew anything about what a sub contributes to a H/T or music setup, you wouldn't make statements like that. I am not completely dismissing this. Just stating it's shortcommings. It isn't the wattage, or even the size of the driver. It's the ability to fill in the low end of the program source you're listening to. I did read the reviews, just not on NewEgg, but others also. The main complaints were distortion and cheap cabinet rattles. Because of the low wattage, this runs-out of power. The more wattage you have, the more you have in reserve. That is the key for dynamics. It's called headroom. It also has NO LFE direct input, only line level. The small speaker diameter also limits the bottom end. At a low end of 35hz (@-10db), You lose all the dynamics and extension of even the simplist crash, explosion, ect., in music or movies. This sub is good for a small-ish bedroom setup, computer, or for an iPod. A good sub needs a min. 12" driver with at least 125w and a LFE input. That would be my starting point. Yes, the cost is more, but well worth it.
#8 are you an audio engineer or do you have any sort of formal training in what you write about? find me a better sub for the money if you're going to be talking baconnaise or shut up.
I agree with #6 for the most part but the main speaker in a HT is the Center. With that said you need a quality sub or you will get a lot of distortion. If you are looking in the $100 range you'll be able to find a better on sub on craigslist (used). There are alot of people with money who upgrade all the time. If you can't afford the big subs you could always add transducers under your chairs for around 50 each. Check out parts-express.com
Ok 'Experts' show me a better performing sub for $100 shipped. I'm waiting. Thats what I thought....."If you spend more money you will get a better sub" Well no chit sherlock!
WOW, look at sparky (#11) get excited. No one said you could get a better (new) sub for less. It appears we were just trying to say a sub is an important part of the HT. This sub will work but it will not sound good above 90 db and it will only reach 50 hz before distortion kick in. I did say if you wanted to spend $100 on a sub look at craigslist and be patient. We can't show you a better sub for $100 because they do not make them cheaper. This is the bottom of the barrel. You could buy a 10" yamaha sub for $100 but it sound just the same. Here save $20 and get a bigger sub. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/ele/1518825335.html
Oh just having fun with the wonderful people in here. I used this very sub for many years, worked well in a 12x32 theater room. I've upgraded to the 15" Titanic Mk III Subwoofer Kit from parts express this year and yes, I can tell a huge difference. But I will give the little Polk some props. About 90% of the time it ran like a champ. I could hear it start breaking up during extreme movie moments (most people just thought the breakup was part of the movie) But for $100 its a great starter sub and I don't think anyone could be disapointed in that price range. But for $700 more you can shake the people next door!
I have bad experience with Polk audio sub. Their build quality is pretty poor. Mine PSW50 fails due to the glue they use cannot last long- they come apart after a few years.. My kid's cheap Yamaha sub even last longer than the PSW50 unit.. Cheap product come with reason: poor quality...
I don't think it would fit in a 12"x32" room, let alone the screen and seating. Proper corner loading in the room and I often had people asking me to turn it down a bit from where the seating was. you could walk around the room and find many 'dead spots' but after tweaking the location the low end was pretty good while seated. Way better than the Sony 8" it replaced eons ago. It had almost zero low end.
Wow a whole 50 watts - just about enough power for a small bedroom or dorm room. Way too little umph for much else.

I have dual subs. They're sort of like the kidneys of my system.
LOL #3
How do these compare to infinity?
a good 50W sub is way better than a baconnaise 500W sub. why don't you read the reviews on this sub before completely dismissing it
It's a good sub unless you want to put cracks in the walls. Its a great value in the price range.

This sub would work well in a 12x32 theater only if you ment to put 12" x 32".

A good sub for most systems.
This apparently will put out plenty of bass for you.
