IMO, not worth the bother. Put that $50 towards better L/R channel speakers and you have more bass than otherwise, plus better front channel sound too. Maybe if you have some ultra-low budget and were running a sonic impact class low power amp that was straining, but even then the more obvious improvement is a higher powered amp.
I agree, if your spending less than $1000 on a sub, your just worthless and really shouldn't be listening to anything. just put earplugs in and hum to yourself. Reality check, this is the best bang for buck $100 sub out there. Get one. It's a good deal. No its not no $1000 sub, Gee golly roger who would of guessed.
#4 only 50W means so little. I've got a 400HP car that can eat a 600HP car, numbers don't mean much. I have this speaker. been using for about 2 years. Beaten regulary. For only 50 watts its pretty good. Its ported so it helps the effiency. I want to see a center channel speaker that can put out more bass than this and be under $100. All in good fun though. buy this if your sub budget is $100. If your filthy rich then you won't be reading this.
Bought it and it arrived from newegg pretty quickly. Sound is good but not as impressive as I'd expected because I'd previously heard it in a smaller room and it was astounding - bigger room, not as much so. But, for a hundred bucks it's unbeatable. I'm keeping mine though might buy another.

Numbers mean something when it's what you get for what price. For $100, unless space is really limited, you're better off getting something used locally.
Now about that 400HP car, that's far more than average HP, can your 400HP car eat a 100HP car? Same for a 50W sub vs normal one, you'd even be limiting the output power more by having an amp in the sub than powering it directly from a typical integrated rack receiver. That's like saying your 400HP car would beat the 100HP car even if your engine is off and it's being pulled by another car.
Keep in mind, I'm not referring to a goal of only having bass, having only thumping sounds, rather about having deeper, more controlled and accurate bass which you can't get with a small underpowered ported enclosure. To each their own but I'd rather have less bass than distorted bass.
This may be good for a computer setup or a very small HT setup. If you need a larger setup then look elsewhere.

Only 50W #3, if the system is so underwhelming that this matters, better to put the $100 towards main component upgrades.
