If you already have the BT remote and want to use a universal to control your PS3, $40 plus shipping will get you an IR front end for the Sony BT remote. This will yeild full functionality, no loss of usb port, and no degradation in performance. The BluWave pictured above has mixed reviews at best.
IR4PS3 seamlessly reproduces the original ‘Sony BD Remote for PS3' behavior with a ‘Universal Infra-Red (IR) Remote.
The IR4PS3 is also included in Harmony's web setup as a component so set up is easy.
Yeah but this is $15, not $40.
Another example of Sony's proprietary garbage. PS3 fanboys bend over and take it up the a$$, and they seem to enjoy it.
Why wouldnt you just get the "real" remote and not worry about a trashy USB dongle just waiting to get ripped out of its jack?
[edit] not to mention - the IR must be line of sight to operate so youre out of luck if you have the s3 in a cabinet.

I have been waiting for a good cheap alternative to the PS3 remote. I can't stomach buying one for my 57" for $40 let alone for the PS3 which has joysticks that do the job ok.
