Certainly looks like all the rumors will be true, new hardware version in June.

Stay away - refurbished piece of junk has bad reception (AT&T blames Apple's hardware, Apple blames AT&T's service), horrible volume, and crappy battery life. Even when mine was stolen and replaced w/ the "better" 3G - same problems and same issues all over again. Buyer beware.

I must say the two refurbished iphone 2G's I bought you could not tell from brand spanking new. After using the iphone extensively I do agree that it does everything quite well....except for the phone portion. Low volume at its max value for both ear and speaker phone, reception indoors is not so good but is location dependent, no voice dialing without a third party app, and barly ok bluetooth reception to an ear piece. My Motorola Razor's phone's phone fucntion blew away the iPhones call performance an features. I think most all iPhone "APPLE" types know this is fact but ignore it in liew of the rest of the iPhones upsiade features. But at it root is a phone...right?

Apple needs to fix or add:
      1. The cell phone call performance
      2. Add voice dialing
      3. Add stereo bluetooth profile
      4. Fix low phone volume for ear and speaker
      5. ??

#4 is correct. But why didn't Apple just enable stereo bluetooth (A2DP) from the start? Guessing because their fanboys will buy any and every iteration of the same burp product, regardless of its limitations.

Just buy a CECT i9 Clone. You can have the iPhone look but can change the battery, put in any card you want, runs on Java and save yourself some $$$.

#5: You are correct. And why not: used iPhones sell for $250 to $500. Most iPhone owners make a profit after accounting for the cost of the upgrade (iPhone).

      Keep hating all you want.

I used to be a vzw die-hard and at&t hater until i caved in and got the iphone 3g. The iphone is so amazingly good that I wouldn't care if mci worldcomm was the carrier. verizon missed out badly and i can't laugh enough at them.

New iphones are great for everyone, in my opinion.

It adds an incredible supply of older generation iphones to the "Unlock for T-mobile" market.

Just pay 9.99 for data plan on T-mobile and enjoy the iphone in its full functionality minus some 3g speed.

If you have T mobile and an ipod, you should just sell it and Ebay a 299 iphone.

      Couple answers for you folks:
#12, you cannot drop the data plan for the life of the contract (maybe after your two years is up?)
I JUST got the 8gb 3g and after being jailbroken its the best damn phone I have EVER had, and I freaking hate apple... but they really nailed it with this phone. I used to rip on it too, that was before I could afford one Smile

#12, no you cannot, not even after your two year contract expires. AT&T states very clearly that if they discover you using a iPhone without the data plan (in or out of contract) they will add the data plan to your bill.
Here is a quote from their website "If AT&T determines that you are using an iPhone on your account without an eligible data plan, AT&T reserves the right to add an eligible data plan to your account and bill you the appropriate monthly fee."

haha, you burp bacon challenged. There is a difference between being objective and "hating". Apple fanboys are all the same, Apple releases a new product but it doesn't have features x,y,z (that every other cheaper product has). Fanboys say you don't need features x,y,z because it would reduce battery life, make it insecure or claim they don't want it. Then a year later apple releases the same product but with x,y,z. Those same people now go crazy how great it will be to have x,y,z, how apple is the greatest company ever. They talk about it like apple invented the features in the first place. They make some good but expensive locked down products.

Apple is a cult in corporate form. Apple fan boys are burp morons who just go by looks and the cult following. I have iPhone its pretty ok nothing special about it and it gets really creepy when it cannot do basic functions like copy paste, baconnaise. The screen looks really cheap and washed out if you put it on full brightness. If add a couple of apps it becomes slow as hell. It cannot run two apps at the same time.

Backgrounder allows you to run 2 apps at once.

Clippy allows you to copy and paste.

There is no better touchscreen technology on the market.

I hated apple, that was before i got their iphone, honestly this is most convenient and def clutch piece of technology i own, and it just keeps getting better with the new update on the way this summer its just going to get even better, A2DP profile, turn by turn gps mms msging etc. The refurbs arent that bad, i have one and the reception is pretty decent. I would wait till they new phone comes out this summer, there is a slight chance the one this summer might have video conferencing as well, i saw that on a patent they just filed, it might be for next years phone though...
