AT&T Wireless has the Refurbished iPhone 3G 8GB Phone for $150 when you activate a 2-year contract with them. Free overnight shipping. The refurbished 16GB iPhone 3G is $250. Now you can join the flock while saving a little bit of money.

That would be a great deal if you didn't need that stupid contract.

AT&T sucks big time in Los Angeles and where I live. Coverage is so sporadic for a major city.

I like the phone, hate all the AT&T up-charges. The phone may be "Cheap" but get ready to pay more for your cellular phone bill than you ever have before (if you want all the cool functionality).

is it 1st or 2nd generation? The price is close to what a new 2nd gen would cost.

#3 - What are you talking about. A data plan with AT&T is cheaper than a Verizon data plan. This is not more per month than another smartphone with all the bells and whistles.

#4 - 2nd gen as indicated by it being 3G.

You're right #5 that their data plan is definitely better than verizon on price. But my experience with the regular phone plans is that ATT nickel and dime you on everything and the bill goes up considerably. I LOVED ATT service and phones, but I decided to switch to another carrier for better pricing. So far I've not seen those "little" fees on my new carrier.

check with your employer as you might be eligible for corporate discount which can at the very least offset some of the nickel and dime charges ATT is notorious for.

at&t's annual report said they're gonna take a loss for a few quarters on the iPhone then make it up later on the dataplan and mandatory contract length.
Pay now or pay later, you'll always pay...

this is the latest 3g from apple. #1, you buy your phone on ebay or on craigs. Or you can sign up and cancel the plan and pay th penalty. As far as I know, there is NO discounts. This is true for ATT and Apple employees. How jacked up is that?

i'll get one of these with the msn live 25% cashback. sign up for the 2 yr contract in my wife's name and then cancel it. that's going to cost $175. so i'll have a 3g iphone for about $287.50. i currently have a 1st gen iphone. i'll drop the old sim card in the new phone and still pay my old contract rate. the phone pays for itself in a little over 2 years by saving me the extra $10 per month that they charge for the 3G contract (plus, i still get 200 texts per month without paying extra, so it's really $15 a month more). will it work?

#8 and #9, not ALL apps are available for the iPod Touch. Some require features unique to the iPhone.

My app just went live, www.100sounds.com and while it works on both the iPod Touch and iPhone, it's a sound player (over 200 sounds so far, despite the name!) so it works best with a unit with a speakerphone (2nd gen iPod Touch or iPhone).
