Cheapest package $70 a month (+ local and federal tax) comparable to their hardwire residential service with unlimited long distance. Still for the almost $2k you will be spending with them over the 2 year contract you would think that they could give you a refurbed phone for free.

I feel sorry for you if you cannot afford the trifling amount of $70/month for phone service, #1. Your life must really suck. *smirk*

Not that I can't afford it not stupid enough to pay it for a fan-boy iphone. Thanks for your comments though. Now you can go back to stroking it in front of your picture of Steve Jobs in your troll tent. *smirk*

Let's say a cell phone w/ another company costs $40/mo.

    So that is $30/month extra.
I think the device is worth $350 by itself (phone, gps, camera, music, movies, games, free apps, voice recorder, etc)

So if you spread out the discount, lets see how much extra youre paying per month.

    + $30/month extra
    - $250 discount over 24 months = -10.42
    -
$19.58 extra per month for all the benefits of ipod. Internet itself on another wireless carrier is at least 10/month.

Anyone know where to get a reasonable price on one of these without the plan commitment/agreement? eBay still seems to be way overpriced.

#9 -- NOPE. Even CL is full of 2G phones that are going for $300+. I want a G1 off plan and I can't get one for under $300 either. I paid $200 for mine when someone got a 3G upgraded. Wait until June when the new iPhone drops and maybe, just maybe the 2G phones will go for under $200.
