I have 2 phones on my plan, if I upgraded both of them to the iPhone, would I have to get the Data plan for both phones? and how much would that end up costing?

    Not a bad deal though.

you would have to get the data plan just for the one phone. I had a 2 iphone plan and it was like $140/month. I would say that if you just had one phone and an iphone you would be looking at $100-$120/month

also #1, if you have to ask how much its going to cost... you shouldn't probably buy it.

#3, This happens every iPhone deal. APPLE SUCKS ITS EXPENSIVE! Same argument, don't buy it and shut up.

This isn't that good of a deal for a refurb now as BB sells them for 99 new with BB Reward Zone.

#4, thats dumb. Just because he wants to make sure he can afford to do it, you assume that he cant afford to do it? No matter how much money I have, I think I would still want to know how much something is going to cost before I agree to buy it.

#5, I see you are one of the bacon challenged ones. I'll shut up and let you pay our way out of the recession.

AT&T shouldn't not create a data plan just for the iPhone. It should just be the regualar media home or all access smart phone plan. this just complicates matter for everyone.

It is not how much that it costs in terms of affordability; it is how much it costs in terms of value. The $70 a month minimum service is not that terrible but charging $100 for a used phone on top of a two year contract commitment is nuts. If this were a new phone the $100 might (might) be worth it in terms value. From the comments above it sounds like there is a better deal on a new phone at BB.

I think the iphone is fine... every phone costs a lot of money if you think about it. remember how much the razr used to go for??? I remember seeing them at $499... for what a thin phone? The iphone isn't for everyone hence why there are tons of phones out there.

#8 Your remark to #5 isn't productive... at least $5 told us of a better deal at Best Buy for the same product brand new.

If this phone was $99 without a contract I would maybe bite... but I am awaiting the Palm Tre to come out for GSM...

From people I know... once you go iphone... you pretty much get hooked. There is a reason why the iphone is success... I am pretty sure the success doesn't come just from the fact it costs a lot.

There isn't a separate plan for the iphone either. It's the same data plan as for all the pda phones At&t offers.

If they would ever ditch the mandatory data plan, I would take advantage of this.

ATT does in fact have a seperate data plan for iPhones - this is because the data is sent through Apple's network..baconT is just reselling. SMS is not included in the data plan and needs to be purchases from ATT seperately. Without SMS, the iPhone's data plan is $30/mo. With the cheapest SMS option, the cost is $35...same as buying ATT's dataplan and SMS in one package (also $35/mo) but this package won't work with iPhones.

I recently got an iPhone 3G. It replaced a Nokia 9300 Communicator I've had for 3 years. I had to stay with ATT because of a family plan and other people's phones were connected to it. Overall I'm pleased with the iPhone and all the software available for it - only negative is the battery dies relatively fast.

If you don't need to stay with ATT, go with Verizon and buy a Storm or another Blackberry. I've heard great things about the Storm and Verizon's signal is much better than ATT's.

Everyone has an iPhone. I'm going with the Jitterbug; that way I stand a better chance of getting laid.

My curve has a replaceable battery. I have three batteries in total: One in an external charger, one in the phone and one as a spare I carry with me. I rotate them and am never caught with a dead phone. Aside from that, the curve does everything I need without the eye candy of the Iphone or storm. I might switch someday but it's hard to justify at any price.

About the only thing holding me back is the data plan. I'm around wi-fi enough that I wouldn't need it. If only they offered some kind of pre-paid version of the data plan (or even the whole iPhone) I'd be all over that. Load up $50 and they could just bill out the data as I use it, sounds great to me. Too bad it doesn't exist!
