Apple Store has the "world's smallest" iPod Shuffle 1GB (refurbished) for $49 + $4 shipping = $53 shipped. Available refurbished in Silver only. "Now made of sleek, durable anodized aluminum, less than half the size of the original."

Instead of these useless iPod get "SanDisk Sansa Express 1GB MP3 Player" for $59.99 from BestBuy and use that 12% off coupon for father's day so it will be even cheaper. It comes with some slick features that Apple iPod Shuffle can't match. Stylish design, cheaper, and many features such as FM Radio and Voice Recorder. PC Magazine called it Shuffle

Agree w/ #1. Express blows away the Shuffle in all aspects and has more features like FM, voice/FM recorder, display...

I bought this refurb shuffle, and I have been very happy with it. Great sound for the size (bass is a little lacking, but that is to be expected). If you manage the music on it, the lack of a screen isn't a big deal because you aren't trying to avoid an album or two that you don't like anymore. Besides, for working out, runnning, biking, etc., how often would you even use a screen anyway?

#1 and #2 - the Express may have more features, but that doesn't mean it is better for everyone. The Express is still 3 times bigger and I have to buy an additional microSD card to hold more music. Plus, there is little to break on my shuffle. There is a market for the shuffle...which is why it sells.

Umm, both are 1G, Shuffle can not be expanded up to 3G with an inexpensive microSD like the Express.

These things are perfect for the gym. They are incredibly light and you don't even feel them when running. For those that haven't seen one, it's about as big as three quarters stacked up (but much less weight).

People buying this aren't looking for their first mp3 player. I wanted somethign small and easy so I don't have to lug around a 30Gig ipod, etc. For me, 1 gig is plenty of music and the small size is a lot more convenient.

#5 -- yes. It's the same "kit." My wife and I have 2 of the refurbs and they are great. If you want small, these are it!

#5, the accessories are the same, but the refurb comes in a brown cardboard box instead of the sexy clear plastic case that the new one comes with. I WOULD NOT suggest this for a gift because you will look cheap giving a box that says "Refurbished" in obvious letters.

#6, you say "about as big as three quarters stacked up ...". That would fit comfortably in your <you know what> with room for an earbud or two. "Good Vibrations" indeed.
