I've been considering the switch to electric razor. Anybody using them that has any pros/cons of rotary v. foil type? TIA.
i dunno about the razor, but i think bacon's dad uses the nose trimmer for his taint
#1, I use the foil now because I found a good wet/dry Panasonic and I can use it in the shower. I used a rotary for 10 years before that, and I was mostly satisfied. Compared to a good blade, the rotary isn't as close when dry shaving. The foil with wet shaving is just as close as the blade, but it's definitely not as close as a blade when you use it dry.
I gave up the blade because it was messy, and I still occasionally cut myself. I still keep the blade around for when I let my beard grow out a ways.
My problem with the foil is how much I have to move it around to get all the hair. The rotary seemed to get it all a little easier, and I think I'll switch back at some point and get a wet/dry rotary instead.
The foil is much easier to take apart and clean.
Electric razors work fine. The main problem with electric razor is getting the replacement parts, every two years. Some replacement heads and blades are $20-$25.
you definitely get a closer shave with a razor.
I get a closer shave with a rotary electric than a manual razor. So, YMMV.
If you're lazy, electric razors are great. Just make sure to get one that can be rinsed under running water, because electrics can get pretty gross if you don't clean them regularly.
Rotary takes time to get used to and in all honesty it's not natural to shave in a circular motion. I tried the rotary shaver's for a few years when I was younger, but hard workerto blades for their ease of use and reliable close shave. If you have a dense beard, you'll be disappointed with all electric razors.
My foil type leaves stray hairs nd the they grow too long to cut. My rotary does much better, but it is not cordless. Electric razors have gotten like almost all electronics (except PC's if you know what you are doing), cheaper to replace the whole thing rather than parts.
I've used both and I prefer rotary but takes time for your face to get used to it.
I'm a huge rotary fan now though, it gives a much closer shave than the foil and misses less. It almost rivals the blade. Only problem is shaving the mustache area is trickier with the rotaries.
I'd advise against this model though, Norelco is better. I got myself a high-quality Norelco 8150XL last year black friday for about 60 bucks new. Probably can find it cheaper this year.

Saw a guy using one of these at a traffic light the other day. Made me glad I switched back to blades.
Electric razors suck. Right in the instructions they tell you that you are likely to get razor rash for the first 4 - 6 weeks of use. For me, it never went away. Also, if you're going to get one, at least get an expensive one with more features.
Works fine for me (tough beard).
I haven't heard of a wet/dry rotary shaver yet...
