It would be a great remote way to turn off the computer.
I wish I could've remote controlled my roommate a few years back. He was such a tool.
Wish I had one of these so I could turn off the refrigerator when it ran.
Better yet you could turn the refrigerator on only when you want something cold, and document your savings with a Kill-A-Watt from Meritline.
These work fine for reasonable distances. I wouldn't try them for whole house use but for in the room type of stuff they work fine, I have two sets and use them to turn on low level lights for TV viewing, etc.
Not as fancy as the X-10 stuff but cheap and working.
